While respecting the value of freedom for one thing - don't you think it
runs counter when you have to *pressure* someone to see your way of
thinking and thus taking away their freedom to choose and select a
course that is according to them fine ?
 
Actually no. You are only showing them alternate paths and I think that that is democratic since the final choice is with Linus.
