The problem actually is with the xserver-xorg-video-intel, pacakge, the
package is buggy in 8.10, I am using Ubuntu 8.10 64 bit, i can run all
the openGL programs.
actually mine is a 64 bit machine , i am running i386 version of Ubuntu 8.10 -- may be this is also a problem
