It works. I went to the other player sites but they don't have a direct install. There is some plugin or the other support required. Xmms is already in my RHEL as I found out when I tried to load its rpm but there are some proprietory or liscence issues due to which, RHEL does not support mp3 in xmms. The rpms for some players are upto RH8 or 9 so thats another problem.
For the newbies, realplayer is the best bet.
