I have a comment on virtualization v/s WINE. WINE does not run my old Visual C++ or Visual Basic Compiler which runs on the Windows 98 because it says "sorry the new DLL's of Internet explorer 6.0 or 7.0 are here and conflict with the internet explorer 3.0 dll's of visual basic). So I prefer virtualization.
That time, less memory was needed --- so it is easy to run multiple Operating System's on one machine. Of course, one should upgrade to keep enhancing the software ---- but I only want to learn my Visual Basic again.
It seems my Visual Basic, Visual Windows C++ and Microsoft Windows 98 edition are finally obsoleted if I try to use Wine but not if I use virtual box.
