ok, this is what I tried the last time I had to (and failed because of a faulty CD). I asked the audience how many had never used a computer before, or who had the least experience, and then asked that guy to come forward and install linux on the system.
I asked him to go ahead with what he thought was right, and to ask me if he had doubts. We proceeded well, right past the partitioning stage - with only three partitions (/ /boot and swap). The install froze during unpacking the packages because the CD had become damaged from being used so often.
We used redhat 7.2
