Dear Linuxers,
Due to my constant fooling arnd with GRUB and LILO and the MBR, i now face a problem.
I cannot boot into WINDOWS:
When I booted my machine I got two options DOS and Linux, when i select Linux it boots fine, when i select DOS i get an error
Disk write error Pls press any key to reboot
These are the things that I tried :
I erased the MBR and then did a lilo -v in rescue mode. No luck although.
Tried installing grub instead of lilo
grub-install /dev/hda
No luck
- I erased the MBR and then re-installed WINDOWS in the same folder C:\WINNT
I'am using windows2k professional.
Could somebody suggest a remedy.....!

When you re-installed Windows, GRUB/LILO should have been overwritten by the NTLDR and you should have been able to boot Windows. Or atleast after that, GRUB should have been inaccessible.
What exactly happened after you reinstalled Windows in C:\WINNT?

I agree with Raseel Bhagat. after u reinstall windows , MBR should get over written, with linux not being accessible to you, i.e. there will not be any grub/lilo left and u would not be able to boot in to linux.
...even i'm curious as to what happened after u installed windows.
