Dear All, I've to make karaoke of a song.The voice is childish in nature close to the sound of a female. I tried audacity with vocal remover plugin to remove the vocal part from the song ,unsuccessfully. I think that you can help me here. Is there any freesoftware package to remove vocal from a song? vlc. use the equalizer and cutout 1 khz to 3 khz. You will have either a residula voice, or by recursing the new file remove the residue alongwith some music in the voice band.

start vlc click settings-extended GUI
You will see a tab named equalizer. Set the gain and the sliders. you will have to check the howtos at www.videolan.org
alternately you can use sox. sox is capable of doing innumerable, complex mangles on any audio file.
