Depends on your platform.
If you use windows then Access is a good choice. There is also mysql.
if you are on linux or *nix then mysql or postgresql are good choices too.
use openoffice calc if you dont want to learn any database. It will do the
work just as well. Its fast free and can be run on windows/linux/solaris.
MySQL is nice, and you can use the phpMyAdmin web interface.
I wouldnt recommend PostgreSQL unless it a big database.
And to use both, you should know some basics about relational databases.
