I had added KPPP to startup and then I had removed the same from the Start Menu| Preferences | More Preferences| Sessions , Startup on my RHEL3. Unfortunatly I don't have either .xinitrc or .xinitrc.template for any of the users....
If net access is available as another user then you
are >fine. Just delete and recreate the account (but first >copy impt files if any).

For normal user I did the same thing but what if the user were "root"??. There might be some configuration files where the startup information can be edited like in windows using "msconfig| startup items". I believe these files might have been corrupted.
