Cause i want to apply for Ubuntu latest version, but i want both in one dvd only. Or do i have to register for both seperate desktop edition and server edition.

Ubuntu server version does not include any desktop. It does not have any GUI at all.
If you want to add a desktop to the server then you will have to install the desktop packages from the desktop CD/DVD.

The last time I tried Ubuntu server was about a couple of years back. Then, the Ubuntu server CD didn't have the desktop features.

I think you have register separately. Or instead install the desktop version and add server packages to them and configure them on your own.
Not sure though.

If you are talking about the Free Shipit service -- they only send CDs and not DVDs. Yes you can buy or download a DVD. Even if you get a server edition, you can download and install desktop features. Either way, I have the DVD, but have to download Amarok, VLC, all codes and so one...so I guess that's some thing you will have to do....

If you install the server, you don't get a GUI out of the box. You can install the desktop environment by using apt-get install ubuntu-desktop though. I'm assuming your server install has a network connection to the repositories.

Hi all, While the CD has only "server features" which means a slightly different kernel and some tools that people would require, once you have modified your software sources you can download desktop-tools as well as vice-versa. Having one DVD which has both is possible but they would have to be different ISO's . I'm sure you can ask for some of the GNU/Linux distro. sellers/resellers for the same.

Why would you want desktop tools on a server anyway? I always promoted one of the major advantages of Linux as not having to have bloated, potential insecure software on your servers. Adding a desktop to a server machine just brings it into the same class as Winduhs.
Use Webmin or equivalent if all you're looking for is point-and-click server administration.
