RMS delivered the Silver Jubilee Lecture at Centre for Earth Science Studies (CESS) entitled "Copyright and Freedom in Science". It was more of a discussion than a lecture, and the discussion covered not just copyright but went into the philosophy of Free Software and its economic and business aspects. There were a number of young faces in the small but enthusiastic crowd of around 200. And, interestingly, some of the older members of the crowd also showed considerable interest in both the copyright aspect and Free Software. The discussions were lively and went on till we had to put a stop because of lack of time. There was reasonably good media coverage, with two camera crews present along with a few from the print media.

Was this a private event? Did not see any announcement about it. Any more such events?
This was almost a private event because RMS did not want more than two major events during his visit. Actually, we started planning this as a small discussion with scientists from the different research centres in the city, but ended up as a Silver Jubilee Lecture.

Is there a chance of getting a copy of the video recording? It would be good to upload it to the GNU website as an archive.

Unfortunately, we did not make any arrangements to videograph the lecture. The TV channel crew has recorded only a part of the talk, after which they left.
