Hi all Yeaterday about 30 students met in the Computer Science block of the MES College of Engg. It was an introduction to FSF to the S4 students of the college. Surprisingly about 7 girls also turned up! Jinesh and Shyam did the keyroles. Jinesh gave the speech. They were given the basic idea of Free Software.
We are planning to conduct a Debian Release party as soon as possible (suggetions are welcome!)
Surprisingly about 7 girls also turned up!
Girls should also be brought under the Free Software community. The link given below clearly specifies some of the reasons why contribution from women lacks in our community and how to encourage women to use Free Software.

So we also need contribution from their side too.
Cheers

You mean women. Depending on what mood you're in "girls" can be derogatory.
Girls should also be brought under the Free Software community.
^^^^^^^^ Women!!!

The fact is true for Free Software, but even more apparent if you consider the global IT scene. I remember ACM taking some initiatives last year but haven't really followed up on what happened.

Sure :). But then again, posting links aside, what are we really doing to encourage them?
Just my two pence,

That's what we need to think about. Because its not as easy as we think. But its not impossible too!!!
