do company policies apply? If FSF-I continues in this manner then why do we need any FSF-I? We need

A large set of questions, and each of them will be clarified.

Since almost a week has passed would this be an ok time for a friendly reminder? Kindly also address the following: When was the last time that FSF-I had an election to the committee? When does it plan to have the next elections? Which system of functioning does FSF-I follow since sister FSFs do not follow the same system...

Can Vikram also list out which work of yours towards attainment of the objectives of Free Software is impeded due to this so as to make this issue a generic one worthy for a public discussion ? If there are no such compelling reasons, then the question becomes frivolous. A state is needed only when a section of its constituents are threatened in their understanding and functioning towards common goals. Where goals are explicit, means are obvious, deviations are undesired and understood - then there is no need for a state - a minimal state is all what is needed.

Without trying to devalue the contribution of FSFI and its current board in any way, I still agree with Vikram. Openness, transparency and democracy are three values that we can't do without in this community. Even if you act from the best of motives and do the best of work, you still leave yourself open to attack unless you adhere to these principles.
I for one would definitely like to see information about the organisation, its by-laws and office-bearers, cash flows and balance sheets, elections (or reason for lack of), etc. made available publicly, on a regular basis. If FSFI is a registered society (as I recall) this information has to be made available to the Registrar of Societies annually in any case.

Dear All,
I for one would definitely like to see information about the organisation, its by-laws and office-bearers, cash flows and balance sheets, elections (or reason for lack of), etc. made available publicly, on a regular basis. If FSFI is a registered society (as I recall) this information has to be made available to the Registrar of Societies annually in any case.
It is a Section 25 company. Bylaw was online seems to have lost when some updation of site happened. Will be corrected.
See http://www.gnu.org.in/about-fsf-india/whos-who/ (Page needs a correction Anand Babu is also on the board of FSF India).
Other documents will also be put online. We are not finding a good office secretary and all of us are volunteering for FSF India.
I will try to spend some time after the FSFS conference.
with regards arun.
I think we are discussing what is going to be the formal aspects of the constitution of FSF-I, which I feel may (a) contribute no good and (b) disturb many here. May I request the office bearers and those interested to open a new list called fsf-office or fsf-bureau or fsf-election to discuss these issues. In my limited knowledge I have no example where activation of a formal mechanism has eventually led to anything substantial or worthwhile.

All the questions from all active free software volunteers for the best interest of the movement (especially the questions raised by Vikram) need to be clarified...Please ensure democratic functioning of the free software movement in India... I hope FSF-I responsibles would come up with the answers... No one can play hide and seek for a long time in such a movement...
