Guys who post such confusing emails suggesting the use of `Open Source', `Freeware', `Shareware' etc. should be put on our watch list and repeat offenders' mail should be blocked.
Yes, this should be done with utmost priority.
And even after banning from our list, if they harp about all these heretic stuff in other lists, we should even think of hiring some pretty good muscile men to beat the hell out of them. That will make these suckers to not even think of OpenSouce even in their wildest dreams!

In the ancient past, barbarians settled disputes in a strikingly similar way using muscle power :) There is no need to go back to those times. Reasoning is the only potent weapon that really helps to show the way the truth. This path does take time and patience but it is the only path available for us.

Ah! Excellent!
If only some of the more lunatic members of FSF India Director board get this message.
If you cannot convince people about the merits of Free Software with logical reasoning, you better quit being a Free Software advocate.
Banning people whom we do not like will only perpetrate the view that Free Software people are the Cyber versions of Naxalites, killing people whom they dislike.
People sitting in responsible positions should never forget that what they post in the list is *the official* FSF India position on any matter. Imagine the "good" publicity we would have got in slashdot, if a story appears with the heading "FSF India to kick out OpenSouce people from it's lists"

Dear Friends...
Thanks For all your Advices...I got many responses....and now things are turning different way...i'm sorry to all those people who felt bad.
and please remain united....because....We a group of pizzky kids out here...in NI College have already formed a group. completly devoted to free software. until now we used to create softwares for many like Medical shops, Publications, Margin free markets and all...Every single one was done free of cost...but we did all these things in Visual Basic...Which was much user friendly to those people who were supposed to use it.. but we were sure that creating s/w using VB will bring harm to both us and out clients...so we decided to Enter..Start a Free S/w Movement...Powere by knowledge...
QT design idea poped up at this stage... any way thanks to every one...

all...Every single one was done free of cost...but we did all these
`Free of cost' is a good thing. But `Free software' is about freedom. Have ever considered what would happen if one fine morning, they discontinued weebee??? Years of your effort at learning that `language' will go wasted. This (disappearance from the market) has already happened to several database application. It is going to happen to *every* vendor of anti virus software.

There are some myths about QT dual licensing. One such myth is that if you charge money for a software based on GPL'ed version QT, you need to pay trolltech (holders of the QT Copyright). It is not true. You can base your software on GPL'ed QT and charge money for that, so long as your application is uner the GPL. If, and only if you wan to use a non-free license for *your* application does the need for paying TrollTech arise.
There is no such thing as 'trial version' of a GPL'ed free software.
There is no such thing as `free of cost' software. Only Free Software. The price you pay for using non-Free freeware (trial version or not) is heavy ...
Blocking people merely because of the views they hold is no doubt undemocratic, but using intemperate language to make a point is a lot worse and even harmful. Giving volunteers the greatest possible respect is a sign of civility. None may complain about the lack of civility, but would it not be nice to be polite while posting messages?

How do you know that the poster you replied to is holding an office in FSF India ? Where in gnu.org.in/fsf.org.in is it published? I can't find it. If this is not "published" information, how come only afew people have this information? Is this information propreitary??? Oh, may be you too are one among those "officials".
No one (other than those privilaged few) in this list know about who is FSF India's official members and who is not, as it is not published. So how come it will taken as *the official* position of FSF India?

FSF India should display the names of people who are members, office bearers, and working group members on the web site. I will try to make sure this happens soon.

Definitely. Do add a list of web-masters too. Hope this will make the responsibilities clear to all concerned.
