Hello Hackers,
Iam presently translating Richard Stallman's collection of selected essays titled "Free Software, Free Society" to malayalam.
Presently it is being manually translated, but we would like it to use fonts released under Free Software when it goes to print.
This work will be released under the GNU FDL.
The first section of translation is already underway and i would like to have the Free Software community's feedback on the same.
My contact Phone Number is 0484-2780714. I will be available only after 9.00 PM these days on this number, and round the clock on weekends.
In highest regards,
Vivek Varghese Cherian

Iam grateful to my former teachers at Chinmaya Vidyalaya, Tripunithura, who readily agreed to help and guide me with my efforts when i approached them with the idea of translating the RMS's collection of essays to malayalam.
Thanks Mahesh, i may need help in proof reading and other technical issues which from time to time may arise.
Kindly do contribute in whatever little manner you all can so that together we can offer this as resource that will help raise awareness and also promote Free Software usage among malayalees worldwide by this small initiative.
In highest regards,
Vivek Varghese Cherian.

Great. It can really help a lot of Malayalees to understand the concept of Free Software, need for Freedom in computing, and GNU GPL etc.

This is a very good news! We would also want volunteers to translate FSF website into Indian languages as soon as possible. Since RMS essays are part of FSF website, that will certainly give us an experience and may solve several terminological choices made by the translators.

I would be more than happy to volunteer to translate the FSF website to malayalam as part of a translation team in due course of time.
But for now, my focus would be to translate FSFS to malayalam.

That is not possible. These are essays of opinion, so they are released under a license that permits verbatim copying only.
I would be glad to have a Malayalam translation in existence. Before it is published, I would like other people in FSF India to look at the translations and make sure they are accurate and well written. Then I will agree to publication of the translations.
When they are published, they should have the same license as the originals, permitting verbatim copying of any or all of the essays.
