'Edgi' is very separate from the so-called 'ouster'. Actually their responsibilities were modified. Some other controversies regarding their partisan role is also known.
The 'Edgi' part is well known to some CPI(M) leaders at least. These were discussed in the recent FOSS convention in Kolkata. Offers of unlimited number of Free PCs (if the wretched proprietary OS is purchased) are common.
It is also true that some 'FOSS activists' with strong business interests act in an non inclusive way. ..and mutual tussles are but natural.
FOSS can never be compatible with capitalism.

This article is over 6 years old, but it still relevantly views FOSS from the point of view of the capitalist. Makes it quite clear there's no dichotomy between the principles of FOSS and those of capitalism.
Note: before you jump down my throat, I'm not advocating that FOSS is a capitalist (or communist, for that matter) phenomenon. Only, trying to fit FOSS into communism or capitalism is meaningless, since the principles of FOSS apply only to intangibles whereas capitalism and communism deal primarily with tangibles.

Ganesh Prasad is not talking about capitalism and that article is wrong from any economic perspective.
But yes, you can say that any FOSS license is a formal version of aspects of scientific ethics and rest is a matter of reasoned opinion.
My opinion was about the space of possible business models....I will need to write it in more detail.
