Linux is just another kernel of the GNU system. People mistakenly spread the falsehood that Linux is an OS, it is not so because by itself it cannot do much.
GNU is the OS and it would be appropriate if you can call it GNU/Linux.
Yes, there are guys who support GNU/Linux and write apps for that. All these services come with a price, of course. There is more info at http://fsf.org.in/
