A one day conference on "Science, Education and Learning in Freedom (SELF)" is being organized by Homi Bhabha Centre for Science Education, TIFR on 2nd February 2007, at Homi Bhabha Auditorium, Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, Colaba, Mumbai, India.
At this conference distinguished speakers from around the world will talk about free software, free knowledge and open standards, specifically in the context of science and education. On the same occasion, a multilingual community portal (gnowledge.org) of free knowledge for education, developed by the computer laboratory of HBCSE, TIFR will also be launched. A snapshop version of the portal will be distributed on a DVD at the conferencee, which includes offline content of wikipedia.org.
The conference will take place from 9am till 6pm, and will have four main sessions.
