another person whom we can ask is Sudhakar chandrasekaran (aka "thaths") who has been doing _exactly_ the same thing in some other african country (is it namibia?). I haven't spoken ever to thaths. and I dont know if he is still doing this but I'm sure he has the knowhow to do bicycle powered laptops, etc.,.
