If you're using the CA-42 cable then your phone (the 3120) is probably
similar to my el cheapo 2112. As far as I can see the phone doesn't
have a serial port -- there is a USB-Serial converter built into the
cable itself.
The converter chipset is an ARK 3116, drivers for which are built into
the Linux kernel 2.6.17. So just upgrade your kernel (hand-roll one)
and be sure to compile the ark3116 driver module in, and you should be
up and running.
