Actually there are two sets of CDs. The first set contains 3CDs which contains the RH LInux 9 OS. The logo is printed only on these CDs. The OS is not customized. It is copied as it is in the RedHat's site. The second set contains a single CD with packages developed by CDIT. This CD doesn't bear the logo of RedHat. The Akshaya project is completely a non-commercial initiative and as I have said earlier there is nothing in copying the logo. Manilal > Apparently, there are two CDs. RedHat is not at all deployed in the Akshaya project. Please clarify the commercial basis of the Akshaya project. I will try to give more big traps in the IT field later. There is no wholesale. As per the work order CDIT has to develop and distribute a free software familiarisation CD for entry level users. By realising the need, it was CDIT's own decision to distribute OS along with it for which no commercial activity is involved. We have to encourage such a realisation by a public sector firm. As CDIT have used content of a redhat distribution for this purpose, they thought that it is morally right to give the credits to redhat. Hello, It is clear that the news in Indian Express and Kerala kaumudi are highly fabricated. Immediate steps should be taken to clear all the issues behind the Akshaya project should be sort out. Another recent development is that in yesterday's Malayala Manorama there was a press release by the Microsoft(Sanjeev Mathur).He said that they are going to release the Malayalam version of Windows OS and MS office soon. He also added that MS is going to spend 90 crores for the govt schools in Kerala. The press release also included a statement on anti-free software. The recent developments should be read with this. We must remember that the akshaya project has also a Windows version and it's almost complete. hi friends I mentioned of warranty because of concern for those life support systems that could run on free software, because when I speak to people about linux they are worried about security and safety of data and not many of them can understand coding of the software , Mr .K.Ramanraj had focused some points about the source code that is given with the free software, I agree with his point that if we ensure the code is written well without errors with good quality control checks we can distribute free software with out warranty . I basically am a computer technician , I have been using linux since 1996, then technology was very costly and now free software is available in plenty and I very happy when I came to know about RMS and his Free software movement I read his story on the gnu website. The Red hat a proporietary software , It is a shocking news , It uses the linux kernel ? how could they make it proprietary ? regards sylvester
