You will need 2 NIC's one will connect to the cable modem and the other to your machine (using cross cable) or to a hub. Also the machine receiving the cable connection will have to provide proxy service to your machine. Your neighbour's machine can either be a linux box or a win 95/98 machine. For linux you can use squid and for windows you can use winproxy. Of course for you to browse, his machine will have to be on. We are using hathway cable connecition in our office connected to a linux box which provides browsing and other services to 40 other machines. Just read a very interesting article from a guy who started out with BBS's when he was 13. He's a security analyst now. He defines hacker as talented programmers who don't even find the need to break into other people's systems without permission, and cracker as those who like to. Crackers may or may not have the skill set of hackers. Finally, for script kiddies, he uses the term `lacker'. As well as use NAT a.k.a Masqerading (I hope I'm right!) Afterthought: How about using 802.11b for sharing the connection! heh heh heh :-D Fart

changing screen resolution

Hi friends, How can I change the screen resolution in RHL7.1 I checked the control panel but I didn't found any tool to change the screen resoultion. Add/ Remove users

Hi Friends, How can I add new user in my RHL 7.1 box. I tried using useradd <username> -p <password> It added the user. But when I tried to enter with this username & password the login fails. Actually if I try with above loging name & passwd it fails but if I try with above login name & roots passwd then it logs in. That means password is not setting properly. Where I'm going wrong? Also tell me how to Remove any user form Linux ? [OT] [Security] Xinetd

Just a small waste of your time. ;-) Those of you who using Inetd with Tcpwrappers - that includes me, should consider switching to Xinetd. It combines the functionality of both programs. Now, you don't have to maintain three different files for managing access to services. Besides it has pretty cool features that are a lot interesting. They website claims that it is more efficient than Tcpwrappers. The Xinetd website is at http://www.xinetd.org/ I think I will try it out Now! Fart
