Problem Installing Mysql

Dear linux Users I use RH EL 3, Every thing is working fine but MySql is giving problem while installing. The Error shown is libmysql.so.10 file required The file is already present on the system. I want to use this system as LAMP server. Any other alternative. Advice. RS Ludhiana. Office firewalls, cyber cafes, college labs, don't allow you to download CHAT? Libre equivalents for Photoshop and Corel Draw on Windows platform.

Hello All, Sometimes if making a full switch to GNU/Linux is difficult, there are Libre alternatives to commercial closed softwares available for the windows platform too. For Photoshop, there is the Gimp alternative. http://www.gimp.org/ Its ready packages are available at http://gimp-win.sourceforge.net/stable.html Download all the packages on this page. Install the GTK for your OS version. Then install Gimp. Then its help package (Select only English during installation). Then the animation package if required. wifi networking query

Hi people, I'm stuck at home due to the rains and so took up something I had been putting away. Ok here goes: Hardware: PC1 is connected to the net via cable modem attached to eth0 w/ IP aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd PC1 has a SMC wifi card running under ndiswrapper. Shows up as wlan0 auto wlan0 iface wlan0 inet static address 192.168.1.202 netmask 255.255.0.0 gateway aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd PC2 has a ProNet wifi card. Atheros chipset. Shows up as ath0 auto ath0 iface ath0 inet static address 192.168.1.203 netmask 255.255.0.0 gateway aaa.bbb.ccc.ddd PC2 has no other connectivity. Both PCs are running Kubuntu Feisty. There is no firewall running on either machine while I am trying this stuff. Task 1 : to connect both PCs so that they can atleast ping each other. July GLUG meet

Dear All, We are organizing a Firefox community event in association with Mozilla Foundation on 14th July at Magnet office in Kandivali East. Well they finally did it and a beta is out already - http://desktop.google.com A quick review - 1. Its fast and returns good results 2. Its still (beta) heavy ( 13 MB footprint in memory ) as compared to windows counterpart. 3. Its very responsive and easy to use. 4. The directories it searches by default is pretty good. 5. Extensible with other plugins. Am not sure how many plugins will work with the linux one. 6. Works with Ubuntu ( the favored one these days ) and rh/sles. 7. Bad bad thing - closed source. They should really find way to wrap their algorithms than closing off the entire app. Beagle with its mono bindings was a bit too slow for me ( i could hear my laptop hdd whir ). And trackerd with catfish was more than tricky to configure for any relevant results. So as of now google desktop wins the competion ( was there one ?) despite its flaws. whats your take on it ? regards, C

Hi, Now that beryl and compiz have kissed and made up, the new improved kid on the block is called "Compiz Fusion" A nice how to for ubuntu-users - http://vorian.org/?p=82 Basically you need the packages from Trevino's repositories. If you face problem with video playback windows then using ccsm (compizconfig settings manager ) add this to "General Options" > "Opacity Settings" > "Opacity windows" > ((type= Unknown | Menu | PopupMenu | DropdownMenu | Tooltip | Notification | Combo | Dnd | name=sun-awt-X11-XWindowPeer) | (type=Normal & override_redirect=1)) & !(name=sun-awt-X11-XFramePeer | name=sun-awt-X11-XDialogPeer | name=MPlayer ) Oh and keep watching for the new zoom out plugin. It works flawlessly on my measly T42 with 512 MB ram and ATI Mobility. regards, C
