I never had any problems backing up data in the range of around 3-5 GB using
tar-gz and the compressed file size of around 2-3GB. Maybe you are going out
of space while archiving.

I would like to know how I can type special characters, like the
copyright and trademark symbols, on the terminal. There must be
a set of key combinations documented somewhere. I believe these
characters fall within the ASCII range.
Please don't give emacs-specific solutions. I don't use emacs.
Tnx.

Hi noel,
its pretty easy to connect to any irc server ..
what u need is a IRc client to connect .. on linux OS u can use Xchat or
Xirc for x-windows chat ..
else if u r not running X then u can use bitchX for connecting to the server
...
u can also telnet to a server & from there run "BitchX" or just type "irc"
to run the irc client ..
when the irc client starts just type this --> /server irc.freeos.com
for more faster access u can connect to some other port which irc usually
accepts is /server irc.freeos.com: 6669 or 7000
after connecting to the server u will get a welcome msg .. & thatz it what u
need to do is just join a channel ... that can be achieved y typing -->
/join <#urchannelname>
for. e.g . /join #linux
& ur done .. start chatting on the mains .. for msging or sending a msg to
an individual in pvt ... type this --> /quote <nicknameto msg>
& start ur conversation ... thatz it ... huh
for any more info .. u can go to www.irchelp.org or mail me ;)
cheers~

> How do I run any X windows application
^^^^^^^^^ Please, say it as "X Window" :-)
> Netscape on the remote machine to which I am connected
> by TELNET?
Start X on you local computer. Then start a xterm/rxvt session.
In that give the command `xhost +remotehostname' eg.,
[user@lchost user]$ xhost +rm.lan.net
Then in the telnet session, start netscape like this -
[someuser@rm someuser]$netscape -display lchost.lan.net
You should be seeing Netscape in your X session, now.
Although, this is the easiest way to do this it is also the
least secure. For further info, please read the Remote-X-Apps
mini-HOWTO

Dear Linuxers,
After installing Debian 2.2 and trying to start the X server, the X server
crashed giving out the error as
Fatal Server Error
Cannot open mouse(No such file or directory)
Somewhere I messed up with the mouse config, but I dont know how to config
mouse later after the installation of Debian system.
Does gpmconfig configures mouse? Anyways it gave me command not found.
Awaiting reply,
Regards,
Mayur
