dsl or cable

I am getting a choice of braodband access in the sense that I am being offered DSL (Dishnet) and Cable access (Hathway). both are costing *almost* the same as far as monthly/yearly dues, though if I opt for a personal cable modem, I will have to pay a little more (~8000 bucks) for the modem. I want to know if someone has used these services. Which one would be preferable. What should I look out for ? What are the queries I need to get answered from both these chaps ? I already asked if they are blocking port 80 as I will get a static IP and would like to host my site myself. mail bounce in sendmail...

hello llist, i m using sendmail as my e-mail server ...linux kernel is 2.2..my server bounces mails which has got . Everybuddy RPMs

Some people had asked me where they could get the latest rpms/tarballs for everybuddy. These are the links to the same. pine or mutt?

Hi! I've found that there is a cult following as far as mail agents and editors are concerned. A guy who uses vi rearely uses emacs and vice versa also a guy who uses mutt rarely uses pine or any other mail agent. I would like to discuss about mail agent here (I use vi and I love it ;) I use pine and it suffices most of my needs. Has anyone used both pine and mutt extensively? What in your opinon is more powerful and user friendly? when I enter mutt the inital UI is not inviting and I'm forced to press the q key :) I've read that mutt relies on .rc file editing. Is the Woody Distro kept at db.ilug-bom.org.in good enough??? I mean, can I download it without bothering to update it regularly??? And will the updates be available on ILUG site??? Or should I prefer Potato-R3??? I don't have fast enough connection to update it regularly... konqueror and java applets

Hi, I am trying to run Yahoo chat(through http://chat.yahoo.com) on konqueror but it doesnt show anything(except frames at bottom, menu frame and advt. frame) and X shows following error: Font specified in font.properties not found [--symbol-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific] I did xlsfonts and found -adobe-symbol... font to be present. So I replaced --symbol with -adobe-symbol in /usr/java/jdk1.3.1_02/jre/lib/fonts.properties file and the error changes to Font specified in font.properties not found [-adobe-symbol-medium-r-normal--*-%d-*-*-p-*-adobe-fontspecific] So I wonder where does it search for fonts. I have no idea about if what I did was correct so i un-did it. Is it konqueror problem, java problem or yahoo problem(only IE/Netscape allowed?)? Surprisingly, Yahoo Pool works very well in konqueror. Also yahoo chat works on Netscape without any problem. So how do I enable yahoo chat in konqueror. Do i have to install or tweak something in konqueror(or java)? I have konqueror 2.1.1(KDE 2.1.2) with java from jdk 1.3.1_02. Netscape version in communicator 4.77 with its own internal JRE. Amish.

Connecting to roltawith wvdial

I am unable to connect to rolta with wvdial . wvdial is able to connect to the rolta server , but says "Returning not OK!" after trying to verify username and password . I have kernel 2.2.16BOOT . I have no way to use any other kernel , since I use loadlin to boot from Win98 SE . what should i do to connect to internet?
