Corrupted kernel

Hi, Someone corrupted my libc.so file and linux now refuses to boot, giving a kernel panic. the kernel kills the init process!!! Now I wish to reinstall glibc. The problem is I have no CD drive attached to the machine. I have a floppy drive though. And the "pseudo-corrupted" kernel is the only kernel on the machine. the machine is attached to a network. Is there anyway I can boot into the machine in rescue mode using floppies? The boot images in the CD are installation ones. and other boot images of other machines won't work because it again runs init which contacts libc.so file. Thanks, -- Goldwyn :o)

Hi, We at grmtech want to thank the Linux community around the world and will like to start from our own country.We have got a lot from the linux community and now want to give something back. You guys go ahead and suggest what you want. We will like to continue this practice every year and have decided to give it a starting in 2004 when the Indian TV audiences have seen an Open world through IBM ad. Some of the suggestions which we got is 1) Free hosting and bandwidth for linux communities, for websites and other projects like bangali linux project.(we have 8 dedicated linux servers in the same data center as the google servers) 2) Making one single forum for Indian Linux lovers, where newbies and veterans can meet. 3) An aticle competition, by which the world can see the passion of the Indian Linux group towards a red hat or a blue penguin. I have setup Postfix+LDAP+Courier-IMAP+Squirrelmail to support virtual users PCQLinux 2004 (Fedora core 1) Postfix installed from source code - postfix-2.0.19.tar.gz Courier-IMAP - courier-imap-3.0.2-1.1 Squirrelmail - squirrelmail-1.4.2-1 rpm installation OpenLDAP - openldap-2.1.22-8 Jamm - jamm-0.9.6 procmail-3.22-11 ( I want to use maildrop instead for filtering and quota capabilities ) I have successfully configured Mail Server for virtual users and its working nice, now i want to do some improvements to existing setup like : Quarantine - System-blocked mail should be filtered into a mail folder called "Suspicious" that can be reviewed by a user. The messages should be deleted automatically after few days. Collaborative filtering (share heuristic rules/blacklists with other mail servers, something on the lines of Blade.) How is Vipuls Razor? If i use Spamassassin i think it is possible to mark suspicious email as *******SUSPECTED SPAM********** in the subject line and can move that mail to spam folder. I want to know is there any free anti-virus available to use with Postfix. For this to work properly i think maildrop needs to be configured to filter mails, i am looking for guidelines to do it. problem starting oracle

Hello Everybody, (* I am new to oracle *) I have installed oracle 9.0.1 on RedHat 7.3. And now if i do now "dbstart" gives me following error "error in identifying controlfile, check alert log for more info" i checked lof and got the following lines there PMON started with pid=2 DBW0 started with pid=3 LGWR started with pid=4 CKPT started with pid=5 SMON started with pid=6 RECO started with pid=7 Mon Apr 5 14:56:40 2004 ALTER DATABASE MOUNT Mon Apr 5 14:56:40 2004 ORA-00202: controlfile: 'ora_control1' ORA-27037: unable to obtain file status Linux Error: 2: No such file or directory Additional information: 3 Mon Apr 5 14:56:43 2004 ORA-205 signalled during: ALTER DATABASE MOUNT...
