"RTFM" or "just google" kind of responses do NOT help the person asking the question... reading such responses makes another 20 people unsure (for the fear of getting snubbed) if they should indeed ask a question... and if this keeps goin on.. this mailing list could soon be dead... there would just be a few "ultra-geeky" questions about iptables and kernel rebuilds... and no newbie/non-programmer would find anything useful here..
This does not help Linux to grow. If Linux was limited to uber-geeks writing c, perl and maybe assembly codes, we wouldnt have this list... lot of you would have never seen Linux.
In this case, the person asking the question has also done some research, and is asking a very valid question.
If you are tempted to write RTFM/Google to some query.. I'd suggest you don't respond at all.. If you cannot help, the next best thing to do is to "NOT offend"... and its not difficult..
