Hi all,
I just saw the notice for CST Examination (E, I, D, or G level) in DNA newspaper and it is on the 29th of January 2006.
What I am interested to know is whether, anyone in this list has attempted any one of the above mentioned level examinations?
Very particularly, if anyone has attempted the E level exam, I would like to know what reference material was used for it and if possible, can it be shared for sometime?
It has basic two papers, General Aptitude and Computer Concepts as two papers to be attempted, and I would like to know if anyone could lend me the book that has been mentioned on their website. (anyone from gkp)
If there are ny notes that could be shared, I wud be glad to receive it!

Hello All,
This month's LFY magazine has a Ubuntu 5.10 live CD that can be used as
a live sample of the Ubuntu 5.10 OS. It installed and setup smoothly.
The system was P4 2.4 GHz, Intel 845 GEBV2 MB, 256 MB RAM, 80 GB IDE HDD.
The display drivers were much better than 5.04 and gave good screen
resolution unlike 5.04's basic 640x480 resolution. Sound could not be
tested as multimedia was not complete due to legal issues :-P . Due to
the dhcp now working in linux too, the triband ADSL modem got the system
on the net as soon as it was up. The firewall inside the modem took care
of open ports in the live system. The wvdial.conf file from my other
distros was simply copied and run. It ran smoothly for both, the dialup
modem as well as the Reliance LSP350R. Only thing to remember is that
all root based commands must be preceeded by the word 'sudo'. And after
the first run of the triband internet, switch off the adsl modem and
after any of the wvdial connections are up, run the 'sudo route add
default ppp0' command for net access. The transcend 512 mb pen drive was
detected flawlessly and a cute little icon was automatically created on
the desktop.
On the whole it was a very good experience and this distro came out in
flying colours. It is definately worth a try. :)
My only query is that if root access is not allowed for security, still
anyone can simply sudo and gain access. How is the system protected from
outside. If anyone can hack into the user account, can he then sudo and
play ball? How secure is this sudo?

Now, when I ping a device 10.1.3.128 from server 1, it forwards the packet
to 10.1.1.1, but
then it does not forward it out to the device.
If however, I change the IP address of eth0.5 to 10.1.3.244, I can ping
10.1.3.128
(because now both are on the same subnet, and same vlan)
I thought that even though the source (10.1.1.10) and destination IP
(10.1.3.128) address are on different subnets,
as both are on the same vlan, the gateway should be able to forward the
packets.
Can anyone please clarify ?

I tried to send a bug report using the Bug Buddy on Ubuntu. But it asks me
for a sendmail path to send the mail to the developers. What should this
path be? Also, when I saved this report as a file so that it could be sent
later manually via mail, I realized that the size of that file is 4 MB!!!

hello all
i have a weird problem. whenever i play sound files/songs on my debian sarge
machine (any media player) it plays no doubt. but the sound is audible only
when i put speaker on full volume. i fail to understand the problem. tried
all sorts of players from freshmeat without success..
can anyone tell me wht could be the problem?
