hello all,
as mentioned by Chetan on another thread, I am aware that rpms of open
office 2.0.3 are very fast and stable as well.
can some one explain me how to convert these rpms with alien and which
rpms to install for getting the latest of openoffice?
I need to know exactly the order in which the files must be installed.
may be chetan can suggest the right (exact) version of 2.2 or 2.3?
regards,
Krishnakant.

This particular problem has nothing to do with FC6. Any distribution of
GNU/Linux will show the same result, I guess.

Is there any particular reason for allocating the IPs of same network to
these interfaces? Why not assign IPs of two different network numbers?
> and gateway address being the same for each of the interfaces......
The entry of default gateway in the routing table has a special meaning
to it. It is to be used by the kernel when the destination address of the
packet being pushed out is not reachable by using the other entries in
the routing table. So it is not interface specific, but system specific. If
there is an entry for the default gateway, then that address must be
reachable via one of the other entries in the routing table. And every
entry in the routing table has an interface attached to it.

It won't; until the kernel knows that you have removed the cable and
decides to use the other interface to move the packets to the gateway.
It doesn't happen in the kernel automagically.
The problem here is pertaining to possibility of reaching same destination
via two interfaces. That's why I asked in the beginning, why you want to
create that possibility by assigning same network number to two
interfaces. A packet goes out of the system via one interface only, even
if the other is configured to carry it. In this particular case, the kernel
is pushing the packet to the gateway via first interface. When you remove
this interface from the switch/hub and connects the cable to second
interface, kernel doesn't care. It uses the first interface only. You need
to bring down the first interface using command "ip" or "ifconfig". Then
only the second interface will be used to reach the gateway.
Hope that clears the matter.

hi,
there is a program called Klettres in KDE for teaching alphabets in
any language. We have done the Tamil, Kannada and Telugu versions of
this - details at
http://nrcfosshelpline.in/code/wiki/klettres
hindi is already there - so just 18 languages to go

Probably we can have a session at VJTI or some place. I know
that Mrugesh has some know-how about sound foo on Linux-y systems.
Mrugesh?
Kartik, to be honest, a lot of KDE-Edu packages should be
l10n or video demos of them should be done - in local languages - esp
if we are targeting schools / colleges. Just for starters have a look
at the KDE-Edu packages. Apps like KGeography, KAlgebra, Kalzium et al
can be a huge hit in localised stuff. Actually Kushal Das did make
some videos in Bengali.

Hi Team,
I want to test ethernet driver for NIC, I have only one PC with two
different NICs(for both drivers are different), So I disabled loopback and
connected both the NICs using cross cable. Output of "ifconfig" is
displaying both the interfaces and ip address is also set for both the
interfaces.
I executed following to set ip address :
#ifconfig eth0 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0
#ifconfig eth1 192.168.0.5 netmask 255.255.255.0
#ifconfig lo down
After that I tried to execute following commands,
#route add -net 192.168.0.5 netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.0.5 dev
eth0
#route add -net 192.168.0.1 netmask 255.255.255.0 gw 192.168.0.1 dev
eth1
but those comands are giving error like :
" route: netmask doesn't match route address"
I also put "1" in ip_forward file.
I am not able to ping anyone of those interfaces using ping command.
Can anyone give some inputs on this?
Thanks,
Bhavesh.

Rony, you may be pleasantly suprised to know that the West Bengal
University of Technology (http://www.wbut.ac.in/) uses Free Software
(specifically GNU/Linux) exclusively on their computers. This goes to
the extent that the Vice-Chancellor had (atleast the last time I met
him a few weeks back) only GNU/Linux on his laptop, and no proprietary
operating system is allowed to use the university network.
To know more just drop in the ILUG-Cal.org mailing list
(http://list.ilug-cal.org/mailman/listinfo/ilug-cal-discuss) and place
a query. Some of the ILUG-Cal.org members have been instrumental in
this effort, and they will be happy enough to let you in on their
secrets. :-)
Cheers,
Debarshi
