Visual Source Safe from Ubuntu

Hi, I need to access Visual Source Safe from Ubuntu. Are there any VSS client application for ubuntu (apart from executing that vss exe through wine)? I need to do this because I am trying to experiment Linux implementation in our Office and I am asked if there's an option to checkout and check in files in VSS through Ubuntu. Bye Regards

Printing to a Print Server

Dear All, I need to print to a Print Server, The print server is simply a Box with 3 ports to connect the printers (2 USB + 1 Serial). In Windows XP, the procedure to setup the printer is to install a driver for the print server called EZ Print by SMC. Create a Connection as if it is local and give the IP:Port Number to the configuration. Install the driver for the Printer and you are set. I have added a printer for ipp print using the CUPS web interface with the device URI as http://<IP>:631/ipp/PID<PortNumber> as int the windows printer configuration it looks like <IP>;PID<PortNumber>. The Error I get is Remote Device not Available. Current Device URI: http://<IP>:631/<PortNumber> I have tried many permutations and combinations and now Cups keeps on trying and remains at Processing and does nothing further. The following ports are open on the Print server. Telnet HTTP 80 Printer 515 IPP 631 Connecting to the Telnet/HTTP Port gives me the Admin menu for the Print Server. Any pointers will be welcome. hi, I just upgraded my FC10 to FC11. Booted from dvd and chose 'upgrade'. After upgrade, I did yum update. And my open office 2.x got replaced by 3.x, all my address books, book marks, passwords etc were all in the correct places. Everything worked out of the box. Obviously this is a bug. How do I report it and get it rectified. (Sorry, my device support only top posting) The term Open Source was coined by some members of the Free Software movement around 1998. This was started as a campaign to promote Free Software among businesses by not talking about ethical aspects, but only practical benefits of Free Software developing methods. Many people becomes uncomfortable, especially businesses, when talking about ethical responsibilities, so some people thought it would help the movement not to talk about uncomfortable things if the end result is larger community. But practically all open source code out these - using licences approved by open source initiative - is also free software - using licenses approved by free software foundation. Only exception is reciprocal license, which is considered as open source but not free software. But there is not much code that uses this licenses. What Krishnakanth was talking about is copyleft. Free Software foundation encourages everyone to use a copyleft license to protect the commons, but it is not a mandatory requirement for a free software. I suggest every one to read the free software definition again. BSD licensed code is as much free software as GPL licensed code. Hi, I have a web server which has CentOS Linux 2.6.18-028stab059.6-ent kernel and Apache 1.3.37 running on it. 2 days back I got one script to test DoS attack on website. It is called slowloris.pl from http://ha.ckers.org/slowloris/ I run that script against my server and it worked. It stopped my website for some time. That time all other services like SSH were working fine. Can anybody suggests any configuration changes at Apache and OS/Kernel level to prevent from this type of attack ? [Flame Bait] Open Office not upgradable in Linux but possible in Windows.

Hello, Some time back I had put up a challenge to the list to install Open Office 3 in Ubuntu 8.04 and looks like no one has been able to do that. Well in Windows XP you simply uninstall the older Open Office version and install the latest version. You could even install OOo3 over the older 2.x version. So on _this_ point I declare Windows XP the winner. ;-) On Saturday I have to remove Ubuntu 8.04 from 5 machines and install Ubuntu 9.04 simply because upgrading Open Office is not possible in Linux. -- Regards, Rony.
