Their T&C mentions that you shouldn't be recording the video, so have a look at the manual to clarify that. Here's a simple way to do what you want to do: All you need is a Graphics card with Video (or S-video) out, and an video + audio input card. Set your video out as a monitor, then on that monitor: Play the video on the system using any app that works. Create an app or use some that will act like a ticker. You could just make a gif or flash animation for that. Keep this application over the video. Use the video out from the PC as your final video. tv scrolling announcements

hi, this is a new field for me, I need to have scrolling and flash announcements displayed on a tv screen (digital tv) while users are watching normal programs on tatasky. How is this done? what equipment and software needed? grub rescue: rescue me, scary ubuntu 9.10, beware!

Can any one help me : two of my PCs have gone into 'grub rescue'. I tried (now I think foolishly) to install ubuntu 9.10 (which has this new grub animal 'grub 2') . And that is buggy. I just dont know how to come out. Very strange and *S C A R Y * 1. One machine has existing windows. It had ubuntu 8.04 . I deleted the partition so I could install ubuntu 9.10 . Now the machine refuses to recognise usb stick, usb CDROM so I cannt even boot from them. 2. Other laptop : i thought I will not touch the system that is working fine( ubuntu 9.04) So I used USB CDROM and ubuntu 9.10 disc on it to create a usb stick for 9.10. I did boot from USB CD and chose the stick to install and chose not to install grub as I wanted only one OS on the stick and thought grub will be redundant. (While installing it had asked location of grub on HD(0) etc and that was not relevant . I thought). So I happily ended the process disconnected USB CD ROM drive and restarted the laptop and again I got the sacry 'grub rescue >' prompt I looked up help on the net but , like some previous sufferers , I got no good help. I am sure there is some good help I can use. -- jitendra

Booting from USB stick : is it ubuntu 9.10 problem

I had reported problem of grub rescue on two machines earlier. Gladly that has been solved completely in one of my two machines. However on the second one, somehow my USB CDROM is not recognised. So I tried to create a USB stick. I could do so very well. However when I use this on the PC, the cursor gets stuck on prompts as this _____________________________________________________________ SYSLINUX 3.63 Debian-2008-07-15 CBIOS Copyright (C) 1994-2008 H. Did same on 9.04 and it worked fine, so must be something to do with the first cuts of Karmic, which I am sure will be ironed out after a few weeks. 8.10 and 9.04 created USB startup disks just fine. ___________________________________________- Any clue? -- jitendra

Please suggest USB NICs that are supported by Linux

I need to add an additional ethernet interface in a router box and I have run out of PCI slots (board does not have any PCI-express). However, there are a bunch of unused USB ports that I can use. Please suggest USB NICs that are supported by Linux *and* available @ Lam Road. Brand/Model and shop name would be highly appreciated. Speed is less important, as long as I can get about 10Mbps on the iface - it will be used to connect to the ISP link. TIA -- Arun Khan

hey arun Belkin usb gigabit 2.0 network adapter should work, I used it on mac os. Stop a nuclear disaster

Hi , Our government is churning out one hazardous bill after another. This time it is a bill called the Civil Liability for Nuclear Damage, and it's coming up for a vote in a couple of days. The bill lets U.S. corporations off the hook for any nuclear accidents they cause on Indian soil. They'd only have to pay a meagre amount, and Indian taxpayers would be stuck paying crores for the nuclear clean up and to compensate the victims. Without any public debate, the Prime Minister is appeasing American interests and ignoring our safety. Greenpeace is launching a petition asking the PM to hold a public consultation before introducing the bill. I have already signed this petition. Can you join me? Possible to write Centos in single DVD

Hi all, Is it possible to burn all the iso of Centos5.4 ( 6 ISO images) into single DVD.? or do we need 6 CD's to perform this task. thanks, Raman. G.
