Software freedom day celebration along with Eben Moglen at IISc, Bangalore on 17th at 3p.m.

Hi friends, This is a gentle reminder about the Software Freedom Day celebration event that FSMK is organizing along with SFLC-ND at IISc tomorrow, 17th of Sept at 3 p.m. I hope all the free software enthusiasts can come and celebrate with us Software Freedom Day. Details of the event are as follows: * Interaction with Prof.Eben Moglen on the Freedom in the Cloud at Indian Institute of Science, on 17th September , 3p.m – 5 p.m, faculty hall IISc. * Speaker: Prof. Eben Moglen Professor of Law and Legal History at Columbia University Founder, Director-Counsel & Chairman of Software Freedom Law Center Time: Fri. Sep 17 2010 3pm-5pm Venue: Faculty Hall, IISc Title of Talk: "Freedom in the Cloud: Software Freedom, Privacy and Security for Web 2.0 and Cloud Computing" Abstract: Everyone wants a piece of you these days: Google, Facebook, Flickr, Apple, AT&T, Bing. They'll give you free e-mail, free photo storage, free web hosting, even a free date. They just want to listen in. And you can't wait to let them. They'll store your stuff, they'll organize your photos, they'll keep track of your appointments, as long as they can watch. It all goes into the "Cloud." How we got here is quite a scary story. But nowhere near as scary as getting out again. Cairo cross compile

Hi All, I am trying to cross compile GTK+ in hawkboard (www.hawkboard.org). I have already cross compiled the following successfully for hawkboard: atk fontconfig freetype glib libxml2 pixman Now when I try to cross compile cairo, configure gives the following error: configure: error: Cairo requires at least one font backend. Hello, Many of the users who rant of others top posting have been guilty of worse discourtesies in the past. I remember one of the so-called 'senior' users has called someone a moron. That same user has appointed himself a custodian of netiquette. I suspect that this ranting about top-posting is merely a pretext to keep their name appearing on the list i.e to boost their egos. I saw this mentioned on DistroWatch and downloaded the iso. I was pleasantly surprised when it loaded (a live cd) on a 486/66 with 32 MB RAM . Unfortunately it did not recognize the serial mouse on com2. I sent a message to the author <dr_ashim(a)hotmail.com> with no response. Without the mouse I could not navigate very well but it seems to be a nice distro that can run even on such ancient systems . It would be nice if some talented person takes this under their wing and help recycle those ancients. Regards hg. PS: how can I (computer illiterate) get this to recognize serial mouse (& comm ports). Feather Linux, very similar to this is also an orphan it seems.
