Sound (Via 8233A AC'97 Onboard) issues

Hello everybody, I'm using SuSE 8.0 Professional(courtesy "thelinuxer"/B.Ghose). It is giving me trouble with my onboard sound. I have a Via Chipset (8233A) MoBo with AC'97 onboard sound. Linux seems to have picked this up okay (8233_ac97) but there's no sound at all. A recent reinstall (for another purpose) found the system locking up on the KDE splash screen unless sound was disabled from the BIOS. The boot-up messages show it as detected and started okay. Would there be a difference between 8233 and 8233A sound drivers? I have the RedHat drivers with my MoBo CD. Please advise, D Burman. He probably thinks that these alternatives to Windows, barring Macintosh OSs, are very "geeky" in nature and can be used only hackers and developers. It is this perception that needs to be changed. Configuring Sound and USB Printer for Debian

Hi, I have Debian 3.0 woody installed. Everything else is cool but I can't configure my soundcard. My SoundCard is Crystal Audio Codec (as detected in Windows 98) on an Intel 810. But I haven't yet found the right driver for Linux. I have tried variations by Crystal Semiconductors like Crystal SoundFusion and a couple of others but they don't work at all. Please help me with this. Also I need to know how to install a USB printer. I have a 2.4 Kernel and I DID install USB support (apparently the earlier versions don't support USB), but I don't know what to do next. Siddhesh.

mutt and q and width

Hi, I have made some changes to my .muttrc file and since then the key "q" copies a message in the same folder with its deleted bit set. That is if I have a message 1 in my inbox, when I press "q" then it copies the same messsage again in the same folder and marks it as deleted. I would like to have q to quit from mutt rather than copying and deleting the message.
