Hello! We are a small group of open source enthusiasts, working on an open source Management Information System (MIS) for Micro-Finance Institutions (MFI). >From Wikipedia: Microfinance Institutions<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Microfinance_institution> *Microfinance is the provision of financial services to low-income clients, including consumers and the self-employed, who traditionally lack access to banking and related services. * In simple words, MFIs provide financial services to poor people such as loans, insurance etc. MFIs are very operation intensive organizations and hence need fool-proof IT solutions. One critical piece of software needed for MFI operations is MIS which is the core of their business. This system takes care of a whole gamut of things for them. This includes banking software which takes care of loans & savings accounts. Apart from this they also need accounting, HR and reporting/BI etc. This project is called Mostfit <http://mostfit.in> and it is available under MIT license on github <http://github.com/piyushranjan/misfit>. It is written in Ruby with Merb as the web framework, Datamapper as the ORM, RSpec for testing and Haml as the html templating language. Mostfit is also made available on a SAAS model to MFIs. We are looking for two kickass hackers who are either competent in Ruby or are willing to learn the language . We are looking at experience levels of at least 2-3 years in software industry. This person should also be willing to put in considerable efforts to learn the domain problem and should not be averse of working in a start up environment. Devanagari fonts on Firefox 3.6.3 running on Kubuntu 10.04

Hello List, I just found that on my friends system firefox renders devanagari fonts very nicely http://imagebin.org/101392 but on my system fonts look like http://imagebin.org/101393 We both are using Firefox 3.6.3 (Mozilla Firefox for ubuntu canonical 1.0) on Kubuntu 10.04. The only difference is his Kubuntu installation is Fresh (done in last month) whereas I am upgrading mine since last 3 years. Do I need to install any package? -- With Regards Abhishek Amberkar

Hi, I came across this piece of crap http://www.reactos.org/en/index.html that claims itself to be a FOSS alternative to Windows and Better than Linux. As per them they have built a FREE OS based on NT Kernel. So this means that they have come up with a free Windows Looking OS with capabilities of running Windows applications. I am damn sure it has also replicated the security bugs. If the website doesn't encrypt the data, then its open to look at, even if the wifi is secure. The keylogger has nothing to do with WIFI at all (in the original topic) I'm totally confused as to what is being discussed now. Facebook - these guys have suddenly discovered that my email id - which I have been using for the past 15 years - does not exist! Had the same issue. Been fixed now, imho. Surya

please suggest a desktop mobo/AMD cpu that supports Linux KVM

Subject line pretty much says it all. I have a couple of Intel based solutions and quite happy with the performance of KVM on them. I want to try the AMD platform for a desktop system, I can search the web and come up with a combo but it may not be readily available @ Lam Rd. Please suggest a combo that can be readily sourced in Mumbai. TIA, -- Arun Khan

Usually cyber cafes use some sort of customized software to keep time track, block sites n similar things, small tweaks to those software can do this n much more (desktop sharing).
