Need help in selecting a Server - Neelesh

Hello, We need to get server with CentOS 5.1 for Panvel Ashram. My requirements are: 1. CPU and Mboard should capable of atleast 16G RAM. 2. CentOS5.2 (32 bit) with PAE kernel should work with it. Please suggest which server will be better for me? After searching on net, I found AMD Opteron Second generation CPUs are better choice. But I am not sure wether it supports 32bit OS. However, I had some problems getting Xen to work on it for virtualising a Windows server on the same box. So long as you are installing an OS directly on the bare metal, you should have no problems with it. You will need to consider an Inventec or Iwill server motherboard, as those are the only brands I found in the assembled server market for AMD. For the problem I faced, I had to ultimately opt for Intel Quad core Xeon processor and motherboard. Regards, Ninad

Hi Folks, Many of you must be aware of CMS applications like Joomla and Drupal. They are very strong and feature rich applications. More over they are open source. However many find it difficult to understand and customize them. Also sometimes you just require less out of the rich features they provide. Complexity of their usage again drive away non IT people who use computers only for their office activities. So the question arises as to is there any light weight, simple, yet powerful CMS application? The answer is Wordpress.... But then here's a small Correction. Wordpress is actually a Blogging application, that needs to be customized as a CMS. Hai , I have been using ubuntu 8.04 , knoppix , BOSS Linux and Puppy Linux for quite some time. I have tried Puppy Linux on a P1 / 266 MHz / 64 MB memory machine with good results. In my opinion , Puppy Linux is the fastest OS distribution capable of working with minimum resources. Bye and Good Luck.
