Soundmax Audio with Very high tone

I installed ubuntu 7.04 on my desktop AMD 64 Athlon X2 with Asus M2N-MX (Nforce430) the integrated audio - soundmax isn't working properly whenever i start any audio ogg, right speaker outputs an irritating high tone any solutions?

The point is that while Novell might be doing a good job with OO.o, it may well be losing out on loyalty in its core network system goodwill treasure chest. FROM THE EDITOR :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Leaving Novell, despite years of loyalty At Red Hat Summit last week, I talked to a Novell NetWare die-hard whose relationship with and love for Novell died, well, hard. Like many users, Jim Klein realized in 2003 that NetWare was a "dead-end street" and was looking for alternatives. Klein, IT services/technology director at Santa Clarita, Calif.-based Saugus Union School District (SUSD), ruled out Microsoft Windows because management costs were higher, security problems were rampant then and he didn't want to get locked into Microsoft's upgrade routine. When Novell acquired SUSE Linux, he saw the opportunity to stay with Novell and get an operating system with a lot of life in it. Unfortunately, SUSE glitches caused trouble, and Novell didn't offer much help to fix problems. Also, Klein found that Novell didn't have the community-oriented spirit associated with Linux. "To me, it looks like Novell just uses Linux as an entry to selling proprietary products to put on top of it," Klein said. Quite the opposite was true of Red Hat and its Linux distro, and SUSD runs most of its applications on Red Hat Enterprise Linux today. Job Profile: * Good experience in OpenOffice is a must especially experience in moving from MS Office to OpenOffice. * 1-2+ years of hands on experience desired. * Experience in conversion of MS Office macros to OpenOffice macros is a plus. * Person should be willing to do support and experience in a support/customer facing role is a plus. Plain text emails using Web based Yahoo! Mail

List, I have added a small How-To on the wiki about composing / viewing plain text emails using Web Based Yahoo! Mail. http://db.glug-bom.org/wiki/index.php/Plaintext_Emails This may not be useful for many (active) on the list, because, I assume most use a email client! However, I believe, there are newbies entering the world of GNU/Linux everyday, and finding out these mailing lists and sending off emails to the list. Unknowingly, the send HTML emails, which are blocked for obvious reasons. Therefore, this How-To is aimed at newbies to send plain text emails to the list. There are no MPs or Union ministers in Mumbai who would notice or care about MTNL services, whereas in Delhi they are practically dropping off the treetops. Of course they may not care about MTNL either, but the pain if hey do notice is much higher, hence the differential service levels. On the train two days back, I met an MTNL staffer who was very loyal and vociferous about MTNL standards. He told me that I should apply for a very cheap Garuda CDMA, Rs 1,000 for two year rent free service and Rs 1,000 free talktime, excellent connectivity (he said). Shell scripting book like Kanetkar's

Is there a similar book on shell programming like Y Kanetkar's Unix Shell Programming, but one that is current. Kanetkar's book is quite old and no new editions. I need a book which has lots of exercises like Kanetkar's and is easy too like the one. Regards, Deboo

Linux/Unix books donation

I have quite a few nice Unix/Linux and Security books (mostly Oreilly) which I do not use but they are in good condition and not that old that anyone can't use it. Is there a place I can donate them where people can really make use of them? They are 10 - 12 big books. Regards, Deboo
