ok - fair enough, question is: does the next avatar need to be gui or
web? The underlying engine can support either or both. And
incidently, the reason why progress is stalled is that i lack
accounting domain knowledge to proceed - some one said, give me a
lever and i will overturn the world. I say, give me an accountant and
i will produce a kick-ass FA package.

The primary requirements are:
a) Click Click type installation. If you know what i mean.
b) Minimal use of the Mouse.
( I am using the new yahoo mail beta version with gallons of ajax. Ajax may hold the key)
c) When printing reports etc, the formatting should be proper. Taking into account standard page sizes etc.
Ofcourse, intuitiveness, easy upgrades, security, support are the other primary requirements.
Gui interface is also OK, provided it will not have dependency issues with various *nix flavors.
I tried using Kalculate, but it is locked down to its custom distro.
at 12000 a pop for unlimited users, tally makes for a very compelling choice.
(this does not include cost of windows XP/Server).
