Offline Package Manager (RUM) version 0.0.1 released.

I hereby announce the release of the Fedora Offline Package Manager (RUM) 0.0.1. This program is meant to enable users who do not have a viable network connection to manage their packages, ie. install new ones and update existing ones, through the standard package management framework used in Fedora. Profile management: a. Exporting the profile of the local system. b. Importing the profile of another system. c. Deleting existing profiles. 2. YumPack creation - Although I have tested this to the best of my ability, I would appreciate if you could try to create new YumPacks and verify whether the dependencies are being correctly resolved. To install package(s) from a YumPack, you would need to untar the YumPack, which is essentially an uncompressed Tar archive, and use 'system-install-packages' to install the RPMs as you would normally do. ubuntu 6.06 X error with ASUS m2nx motherboard. amd dual core

I just got an ASUS m2nx motherboard with AMD athlon dual core 3600. This has nvidia chipset. Tried loading ubuntu 6.06 on it and it gave X config error. Was wondering if anyone has encountered a similar problem and how it can be rectified? Would loading 7.04 fiesty fawn, resolve the issue? If yes, then does anyone have a copy handy and if within my reach, I can pick it up. problem with configure, linking

Hi, I am trying to build some packages, as shared. While building, even though I specify -L<lib_directory> to configure, it is not fetching the libraries which are already in the library_directory(shared ones). The compilation stops in the middle showing missing libraries which are already present in <lib_directory>. I have to edit the Makefile manually and give the libraries as --rpath -Wl,<library_name> in LDFLAGS= which then compiles. Is there some way around this, like option to the configue ?. -- Thanks & Regards Anish N

MTNL TRIBAND MODEM QUERY

HI One of my friend's for whom i instaled Ubuntu 7.04 has a Triband connection.... he connects through USB. But Ubuntu is not able to connect to the modem via usb.Please Help.For some odd reasons he does not want to use the ethernet!!!! ---- Joel Solomon

setserial and pnpdump

hi, I found out recently that Ubuntu distro does not have setserial, pnpdump commands. I could install setserial later from the archives. the question is, which other alternative exists to configure the serial ports other than setserial. Similarly for pnpdump. any clues will be appreciated. btw: What is the status of the same in Debian GNU/Linux? Nagarjuna

networking query -- wifi

Ok, As I wrote some time ago, I am trying to connect two pcs via wifi. I can see the other card via iwlist device scan.
