I did all that, but fdisk did not give me any error at all.

There was no 'f' option in the 'extra functionality mode' !
I checked using cfdisk but it panicked saying that "the partitions are
enlarged and it is recommended that you wipe your disk clean !"
I checked using Dos fdisk... guess what it did? It performed an illegal
operation.
But other partitions seem all right (under windows).

I dont have the latest Debian installation disks, else I would I tried an
install... but then I may try with my older rel 2 disks... let us see...
