RedHat 8 - Switching back to Sawfish

Does anyone know how to switch off this terrible bluecurve crap and get back to Sawfish?? I want to use my GTK themes; like BlueHeart. Okay, Gnome2 and Bluecurve look really cool, especially with AA fonts but there's quite a lot that I didn't like. Here are the issues (when I say that something "is" or something "isn't", it is supposed to be *AFAIK* and not the absolute truth): - Under-featured window manager: The MetaCity Window manager doesn't have any options for layering management and attribute memory. I can't keep EveryBuddy on top now. - No options for custom keyboard short-cuts: Unlike Enlightenment or Sawfish, there's no provision for having keyboard shortcuts to run commands. There's a lot more move-move click-click involved now. - No option to switch Window Managers! I installed RH8 clean on one system and upgraded another. The former doesn't have sawfish, the latter doesn't have an option to switch Window Managers, even though it has Sawfish. - Complicated Menu: The main menu is now more broad than deep a la KDE and that was one of the main reasons why I didn't like KDE. - Overall lack of customizability I could go on and on but to summarize, a lot of customizability that Gnome users had grown accustomed to is now gone and the overall feel has a lack of "freedom". - The Terminal is now a "System Tool" (duh!) I looked around the Net a little and I didn't find many people ranting about these things. Is it just me? Am I missing something? I'd be grateful if some of you could give some pointers. TIA

hi, is there any tool on debian that helps edit/organise runlevels? sure this can be done manually. but it would indeed be nice to have something on the lines of ntsysv to handle all that. reason for this: runlevel editing is not child's play. not many newbies who can handle this comfortably. selecting a number for the symlinks to be put into the various rcX.d directories is the timeconsuming part that needs too much R&D for newbies. this is very likely to turn people off when they compare things with MDK for example where there are multiple interfaces for handling runlevels, for starting and stopping services and finding out which service is running, stopped, what that service does (brief intro), etc. editing runlevels was fun for a while, till i caught myself spending too much time on this and stopped as that same time was required for regular studies more than for customising the runlevels. any new technology / feature consumes 90% time for learning and 10% or less for getting the job done ...this was roughly what happened when we built the schools CD for the GSCP proj ...and the same thing is recurring with the runlevel editing, getting my audio CD to play (still haven't managed this), etc. warm regards banduji peace -- : ####[ Linux One Stanza Tip (LOST) ]########################### Sub : No password login as user (#2) LOST #205 Fed up of typing password for every login as an user on stand alone boxes ? Hello Luggers, I take this oppurtunity to congratulate Dinesh on the efforts and responsibility taken up on setting up/Co-ordinating and conducting the workshop at Sardar Patel College Of Engineering. Infact While going home on saturday dinesh had an accident......and inspite of being in pain, he made sure he was there for the 2nd day and see the workshop through. Sure the best thing is not to share the root password, but i have seen a number of places where root passwords are shared so that if one administrator is not able to come in or is not reachable, another authorised person is available to manage the servers. - Shankar
