I agree. The media will continue to refer to 'crackers' as 'hackers'. That's the language their readers understand. Then more people will start (mis)calling crackers as hackers. Checkpoint Vs Cisco Vs Astaro

Hello, This is a late response to the previous thread on checkpoint, where it was mentioned that Cisco was #1 followed by Checkpoint.... but I thaught otheriwse.. Who is market leader Checkpoint or Cisco ?? How is Astaro, has anybody heard of this FW, how good is it... when compared to Checkpoint & Cisco. Userfriendly

I agree with Mr Pathak. We use Windows as the frame of reference as to userfriendliness. _But_ forcing customers to upgrade to newer versions of office suites by making newer versions incompatible with older ones is not userfriendliness. Setting standards and then exploiting them is not userfriendliness either. Stifling competitors by withholding technologies from the market restricts your choice and is most unfriendly. Mozilla tweaks, anyone?

Hi folks! Could anyone give me some tips on how to tweak mozilla to respond faster? Since I have lots of RAM, I'm ok if some processes stay in the background eating up memory. Galeon has this nice option of starting it in 'server mode' that can be started up at login but it's pretty light-weight so it doesn't make much of a difference. Is there something in mozilla like this? Atleast mozilla --help didn't show it. Samba Printer Setup Problem

I am using Redhat 7.2 and I have configured Samba 2.2.5-1. I my Network Places, I am able to view my Linux Server and access my shared directories, here I get the option of Printers and Faxes, when I try to Add Printer I get the following error message. " You dont have sufficient privileges a add a printer on "\\SambaServer". Do you want to run this command as a different user? " What could be the reason for this error message, though I am able to access the shared directories on SambaServer from my Network Places. TIA. -Rupesh

If any ILUG-BOM members are interested , they may join a meeting on Saturday at IIT where some are meeting. This is in response to an appeal made in ArthVrittant article on Stallman, by Anil Shaligram on 18 March issue of Loksatta. Some of the ideas that came up while thinking about Marathi Linux There are 3 levels of work in Marathi-isation 1> Applications like office software: Free softwares like a>StarOffice , which are quite a good substitute for MS-Office and available in Linux : b> GIS softwares like GRASS or MYWorld useful for urgent problms like water and environment c> educational softwares Like LOGO, STARLOGO, Model-It, Worldwatcher, DrGenius We need to translate the labels and messages and documentations and tutorials, multi-lingual CDs with multimedia. 2>Creating application in Marathi: Using gtk, glade emacs etc. 3> Working at the OS level : Creating labels/message table in marathi. NCST has already done a large part for Hindi, some in Marathi too. We also need to create mass awereness thru newspaper article in all the press. We should ask our local cybercafe to have marathi software loaded. AKRUTI have agrred to support anyone helping. Similarly other Marathi and Indian language developers can be asked to make offers.
