So I got this message about my computer back home. Any ideas? No kernel changes. again stuck up, says FPU using exception 16 error reporting. checking " hlt" instruction....<1> unable to handle kernel paging request at virtual address ffc0000 many zeroes ..... ... ......... ... kernel panic: attempted to kill the idle task IN swapper task- not syncing -- Satya. <URL:http://satya.virtualave.net/> Don't use a big word where a diminutive one will suffice.

Fetchmail again

Sorry my earlier prob was not defined properly So I am sending the error again. I guess my dial up connection died down when i tried previously. the actual problem sounds like this.................. 2 messages for goldwyn_r at pop.softhome.net (8132 octets). reading message 1 of 2 (3711 octets) .fetchmail: SMTP connect to localhost failed fetchmail: can't raise the listener; falling back to $procmail -d %T..sh: -d: command not found fetchmail: MDA exited abnormally or returned nonzero status not flushed reading message 2 of 2 (4421 octets) ....sh: -d: command not found Please note that it works perfectly fine with a MUA(Mail User Agent) like KMail. howeevr I am not keen on doin gthis as there are quite a few people worin gon this system and i want mail of eveyone to be downloaded in one connection and distributed accordingly. Procmail is also installed. Another question. I am in bash shell why is it showing sh for errors?? Sorry for the trouble, and thanx again for the help. Goldwyn :o)

(There is a space at the beginning, which you have to consider) tr -d adr: delete the addr: part of this field. Fetchmail

I have a dial up connection and whenever I run fetchmail (after connection) it gives me the following error. fetchmail: timeout after 300 seconds waiting for server pop.softhome.net. fetchmail: Query status=7 (ERROR) client/server synchronization error while fetching from pop.softhome.net Anu idea what cud be the reason?? I have sendmail runnoing properly and mail thru MUA works fine but however i wanted to configure fetchmail so that mails of all users can come and go together. Either your link is slow or your mail server is down. I use poll mail.server with protocol pop3 timeout 1200 HTH Noel. all mail clients hang when hit compose

hi linuxers,dai'm having this strange problem. all my mail clients hang, wheneverda i hit compose, reply, forward. this list includes mutt, pine, netscape.dai'm using the PCQ(based on redhat 7.1 distro ). i have recently reinstalleddathis distro and had copied my mail folders from backup to home directory (though i think.dathat should not be a problem).daanyone knows whats happ ???dadaparvez

Using Two gateways

Hi luggers, Is it possible to use two gateways, one from a fixed ip provider (hathway) on my eth1 and the other from dial-up (vsnl) on my ppp0 (modem) Using hathway, i can browse better, but download of mails is painfully slow. Using vsnl dial-up, i am able download mails, but browsing is very slow. Moreover if i use vsnl for browsing, it slows my mail download. Right now i have to manually change the gateway (using linuxconf), and then connect to vsnl. After downloading the mails, i disconnect and switch to hathway. I tried man route to change the routing rules manually, but it does not work. route add gw 202.88.136.1 Nm 0.0.0.0 dev eth1 Suggestions please Noel. Thanx, works beautifully. I could not locate the routing instructions made by ppp when the modem got connected. So i thought of writing one myself. How do i get the gateway from my ppp0. mouse problems

hi luggers I have got a trivial yet frustrating problem at hand. Whenever I use the mouse the mouse pointer automatically goes to the left hand top corner of the screen and refuses to budge from there. I have tried all sorts of things to rectify it however I couldn't find a remedy. Can anybody who has had a similar problem please help me out? mount an iso ?

Hi, can anyone help me mount an iso in rw mode rather than ro mode. i need to update some files in the existing iso. mount -t iso9660 -o rw,loop=/dev/loop0 myimage.iso /mnt the above command doesn't mount it in rw mode but mounts it in ro mode. Best Regards, pm
