Hi! Why not use GeForceIII or other such card? I heard somewhere that Matrox is slowly losing in competition and performance as well. I use a RivaTNT2 card and it has good performance, but I don't think it will satisfy the need for very high end graphics that you are looking for. Also, why are you going in for a branded PC? Try assembling your own PC. Its fun to build them and its very cheap as compared to branded ones. Also, try going in for a very good Motherboard too. FSB matters a lot. I would personally recommend an ASUS board. I myself use this board. A real performer. Alternatively, since you are putting in so much money, why not put some more and go for an SGI (Silicon Graphics) workstation? It rocks! Perl for beginers?

Hi, Are there any good books on Perl for beginers? Online sources prefered. I'm already reading through the man pages. Also, I write my Perl programs in pico and run them from the shell prompt. Any better way to do this? I would prefer working on console and not on X. Still, please suggest X utilities also, if any. Many thanks, Nikhil.

hey guys i just finished building a linux system -all from sources, with a 2.4.5 kernel I tried to install iptables, but it tells me to apply the 'reject-enhancements' patch. when i try to apply it, it gives those "previously applied or reverse" kind of messages.. what could be wrong? more importantly, how do i get around it? regards, kishor _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Cyrix, AMD cpu

Hi, Anybody installed GNU/Linux computers with M2/Cyrix/AMD cpu. Have you encountered any problems. A friend of mine has a M2 system and wants to install gnu/linux on it and wanted to know if there are any known problems since these are not Intel chips. I plan to do a course in c, c++ and unix. Any good institutes that you know of. I stay at borivili and work at nariman point and am looking towards an institute in the western suburbs. Also, any good books you recommend. Regards, Noel.
