Want source code to some installed programs

Linuxers, What is an SRPM? I have a CD that says "Red Hat 6.2 Source" and it contains all SRPMs. I just want to install the source code to some of the programs I already have (mainly the basic util commands like cd, mkdir, cat, grep, etc.). I don't have the sources yet, so I want to know what is the best way to obtain them. Am I supposed to install the SRPMs from CD-2 of RH? Thanks. Manish J.

restricitng shell access

hi all, is it possible to restrict the user to run only specific commands the least possible. say i create a user named "temp" and i want him to run only one shell executable called "b" can i do that..? once he logs in he shouldnt be able to change to any other directory other than /home/temp (his home directory). So can I just make him stay in his home folder and run only one executable command. is that possible... please reply reagrding the same, regards, mike.

xcdroast does not see CDread device

hello I have two CD ROMS. One is a creative CD reader infra 48. The second is a Samsung CD writer. I am able to see both the CD's as /mnt/cdrom and /mnt/cdrom1 in my system. However, xcdroast shows only one device namely samsung CD writer. hence Cd to CD copy is not possible. I am using a Red Hat 7.1 Anand

Also the machine receiving the cable connection will have to provide proxy service to your machine. Your neighbour's machine can either be a linux box or a win 95/98 machine. For linux you can use squid and for windows you can use winproxy. Of course for you to browse, his machine will have to be on. We are using hathway cable connecition in our office connected to a linux box which provides browsing and other services to 40 other machines.
