Dear Colleague, This is to remind you of the following event. ACM Seminar Friday, August 24, 2001 - 6:30 p.m. Title: Web Engineering with ZOPE Speaker: Nagarjuna G. (HBCSE, TIFR) Venue: Lecture Theatre, NCST, Juhu Abstract: ZOPE (Zee Object Publishing Environment) is a feature-rich web application server written in Python (a powerful object oriented programming language). It is object oriented, with built-in support for XML, password authentication, search, security and user management, and supports protocols like http, ftp, WebDav & XML-RPC. It can use data from various sources including file systems, ZODB, RDBMS and LDAP. The lecture will be an introduction, and will cover installation and a demonstration of most of the features of ZOPE and a few of the ZOPE products used for the creation and maintenance of dynamic web sites. During the talk the suitability of ZOPE for developing e-education applications will be discussed. About the Speaker: Nagarjuna works as a Science Educationist at HBCSE, TIFR. XFree86 4+ & SiS 6326 cards

this is Just for information purposes for all those having vague problems with SiS 6326 cards & Xfree86 4 & up. most of the cards sold here come with 8mb memory. In actuality this chip seems to be able to access only 4mb ( those who have "RTFM" 'ed :-) ... will know this. ) U'll have 2 -3 options.... one (most obvious ).. use the VideoRam = 4096. ( This option is ESSENTIAL for Xfree86 4.0 & up .. not sure abt. 4.1 + though ) u'll need to explicitly limit the memory to <= 4mb for these cards ... the older x-servers detected only till 4mb for the sis anyway. another . dont use the sis driver , use the "vesa" driver. ;-) .. but when u got option 1 why use this ? Also -> anyone using the default PCQ / RHL 7.1 setup.. check 2 see if U r actually using the 4.0.3 server. It seems to use 3.3.6 by default . the rpm is there inside the CD. C'ya Erle.

Traffic Monitor on port 110

Dear Lugers, I want to monitor traffic on port 110. I'm using qmail-pop3d server. I want to generate statistics of bytes transfer on that post per user. I searched quite a lot but did not find any logging from qmail-pop3d. On some list archives one has recommended that the only messages that come out of qmail-pop3d are they ones which are sent to the e-mail clients like Eudora etc. You got to get those messages and log yourself. How that can be done? I did not find any third party tools for this too. Any suggestions? Festival

Hi, anybody have Red Hat Linux Powertools CD (it contains the text to speech software "Festival"). i tried to locate on the internet but it's a huge download & i'm stuck with this dial-up :( Basically i'm looking for a good text-to-speech software under linux. after reading reviews & posting on usenet i decided to use "festival" rather than the one made by IBM (can't remember it's name). Diskless node not booting

Hi all, I am having a PIII 733,256MB Ram machine with Rtl 8029 Ethernet card, in which I have installed Mandrake Linux. I have also installed Appache, Tftp,NFS, DHCP servers in the machine. I am having a diskles Celron 800, 64MB Ram machine with Rtl 8139 ethernet card. I have gone through entire LTSP Documentation and installed the Core, Kernal for rtl 8139 and bootpd rpms in server. Also I have downloaded the rtl8139 ethernet image file and tried to boot the diskless node from floppy. While I am trying to boot, I am geting the following error message in the node and I am not able to connect to the server. Searching for server(BOOTP)... . Me 192.168.0.1, Server 192.168.0.254, Gateway 192.168.0.254 Loading 192.168.0.244: /tftpboot/lts/vmlinuz.rtl8139... TFTP error 1 (File not found) Unable to load file <sleep> <abort> The file vmlinuz.rtl8139 file is available in the location /tftpboot/lts/ I had added the following lines in /etc/xinetd.conf tftp dgram udp wait root /usr/sbin/tcpd in.tftpd bootps dgram udp wait root /usr/sbin tcpd bootpd Also I have configured the /etc/bootptab file by specifying the MAC address of the rtl 8139 card (workstation). (In the work station the address was displying as 00:02:44:0A:A7:20. However in the bootptab file default was continuous alphanumarls like AABB03CDBC. I have modified the MAC address as it is shown in node) PLEASE SUGGEST ME HOW TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM. Regards, Vinod Bhaskar

You mean to say that you are able to download the mails on your linux box but the clients (win terminals here) are not able to download the messages ? If this is so you should configure your terminals properly and this has got nothing to do with sendmail. hello all, i have this setup at my office.... i have setup redhat7.1 linux on an p166 with 16 mb ram and 1.2 gb hdd. i use this box for two things 1. as a proxy server(squid) 2. as a mail server(sendmail + fetchmail + procmail) now when i say mail server it actually does not have a static ip etc. what it does is it dials every 15 min to vsnl and polls to my mail server in US and downloads mails from this pop3 server. on the linux box i have setup accounts for all the employes. they use win98 with netscape to get their mails. my simple question is how do these ppl get the mails? i mean what config is req at netscape for it to be possible and also at my server? the mails go to the resp. mailboxes at the linux box correctly. i checked it in the /var/spool/mail dir. so only prob is to download mails from linux machine to win machine via netscape. do i need a pop3 deamon running? i had one and everything was fine but the damn deamon crashed everything it could get its hands on. i read somewhere that i do not need pop3 for this but the language in the howto seems latin to me!!! the howto is at http://www.europe.redhat.com/documentation/mini-HOWTO/Offline-Mailing-1.php3 this idea is great but i cant get it to work. could someone please enlighten me abt where i am going wrong? or could someone translate the same howto in plain english. configuring sendmail is a big headache!! thanx in advance regards sagar sule ===== When you have hit rock bottom, The only way you can go is UP! __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
