Webcam not working on Ubuntu

hey, I have been trying to get this webcam to work on ubuntu though it gets detected, the video is not getting captured i have been using cheese to do that any help on this would be great. HP lj1007 printer not working in ubuntu

Hi All, As the subject of this post shows, I'm using Ubuntu Linux 8.04 / 8.10 on which I've connected HP LaserJet P1007 printer with the USB port. The printer is getting detected in the system but when I shoot any document to the printer, the prints does not printed on the printer. The documents get spooled out of the system & shows that, it is printed successfully on the printer, but it is not printed If I connect another USB printer like HP LaserJet 3005 on the same system, then it can print on that printer( on 3005). If the same printer (LaserJet P1007) I connect to the windows xp system, the printer works properly giving all the prints. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Sameer Shinde. Display problem Asus P5VD2-VM SE

Hi, Today I was installing Mint 5 on my firends PC, he is using Asus P5VD2-VM SE. live CD boots normally but When It go to DEsktop it looks something like this. http://img91.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dsc00719kc1.jpg this is not my image but it looks the same when I run live cd. any help will appreciated. -- P. Warning: This post contains strong language. Reader discretion is advised. Hi, So the jackasses of MTNL have ****** up a perfectly working setup at my place in Mumbai. Now my old folks are left without Internet. So I'm thinking of adding a redundant line. They dont require anything fancy - a volume based plan and a low latency connection ( for VoIP ) would be required at the very least. Reliance has cabling but I was burnt the last time I used their services. They're supposed to have improved since then but I dont want to fall into *that* trap once again. Recommendations are welcome. - Dinesh

For those that don't know, Freenode is an IRC [2] network supporting Open Source and Free Software communities globally. Another PDPC activity is the annual FOSSCON conference in the fall. PDPC is specifically [3] raising funds in order to be recognized by the UK as an official charitable organization. This status has many benefits, however they need to raise a certain amount of money by March, 2009. There are just a few days left in the fundraising campaign. Canonical Ltd. (the company created by Mark Shuttleworth that drives Ubuntu Linux) has graciously stepped forward to provide dollar for dollar matching, magnifying the impact of your donations to PDPC. The fund raising goal has almost been reached but your contribution is needed. Brainstorming by the PDPC board of directors for how to use any funds not used for operations includes hosting live conference events in Europe and the US, extending current services and improving the reliability of the freenode network by hosting a few of their own hubs and backup systems. Freenode is growing rapidly [4] supporting up to 57,000 concurrent users up from a maximum of about 40,000 18 months ago. Some people may not be aware that IRC is used by a huge array of Open Source and Free Software projects. The list of groups [5] Freenode works with is truly impressive. I feel it is not at all hyperbole to say that the work done over freenode and OFTC [6] are the real-time backbone of open source collaboration throughout the world, Coders use the IRC network to develop applications used by millions of people every day and provide *end user support*. I need to buy one. Creative web camera (exact model not known, purchased about 2 years ago)does not work. Can any one guide please Do I need to give any more info? -- jitendra
