Kubuntu on Acer Aspire One (AAO)

Hello, I am trying to boot a live Kubuntu 8.04 ( KDE 3 as well as 4 ) CD into the Aspire One with XP Home pre-loaded but the boot stops at an initramfs prompt. There is an external HDD adapter that is plugged into the brand new Moser Bayer IDE DVD R/W and this combination was able to read media in Debian Etch's desktop, just like plugging in a pen drive. In the AAO, on hitting F12, the third option is the USB DVD drive and I get the initial boot options. After selecting the default live option, the boot process moves up to the initial part and then stops at the initramfs prompt. I believe this is due to some driver issue. Has anyone installed Kubuntu 8.04 on this netbook? The sites on google mostly mention Ubuntu 8.10 for this netbook so I will be downloading the Kubuntu 8.10 ISO. adsl model problem

Hi, I have a BSNL internet connection. When i am using azureus, after some time, my download stops, it again starts & does this couple of times. Every time, firestarter indicates a blocked connection. If i check the firestarter for blocked connections, i see this (not in any order): Port Source Protocol Service 57084 192.168.1.1 ICMP Unknown 4024 192.168.1.1 ICMP Unknown 62159 192.168.1.1 ICMP Unknown I tried to closely monitor this thing, as far i can tell, when ever this happens, download speed goes to 0 & then again increases. But some times i have to reset the modem. I am using Ubuntu 8.04. I have checked my pc at grc.com (i went through http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=510812) It shows my pc as passed the test. Installation Problem !

hi i am facing problem while installing Ubuntu 8.10 currently i am using ubuntu 8.04 which is running fine.. system config is : Intel P3-550mhz, 512mb sd ram, 80 ide gb hdd Asus BX440 Motherboard. but when run 8.10 for installation it halts and show msg *initramfs> and does not goes further.. what can be the problem.. pls confirm ! thanks n rgds *-- Inder
