You no longer use "import qt" The library has been split functionally and you typically use something like "from PyQt4 import QtCore, QtGui" There are many other differences from previous versions and when I switched directly from 2.13 to 4.0 I got quite a shock - all older programs need significant work to be fixed. Since you're starting from scratch, make sure that you use documentation or books that are up-to-date and refer to Qt 4.x, otherwise you're going to get very confused. problem with pyQt

Hello all, i'm new to pyQt and am having trouble getting it to work. i have python2.4, qt4 and sip4 installed on my system (debian etch; upgraded from sarge to etch in the hope that this problem will go away, but it didn't), but i get the following error:- >>> import qt Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in ? ImportError: No module named qt googling around for 2 days, gave me one useful link:- http://mats.gmd.de/pipermail/pykde/2004-July/008172.html so i removed all traces of python2.3 (see point 2 in above link), and finally am left with following packages:- pyqt:- pyqt-tools, pyqt4-dev-tools, python-qt-dev, python-qt4, python-qt4-dev, python2.3-qt4 (virtual, dunno why this is still there, can't remove it though), python2.4-qt4 (virtual, dunno why this is still there) qt:- qt4-dev-tools, qt4-designer, libqt4-dev, libqt4-core, libqt4-gui, libqt4-qt3support, libqt4-sql, qt4-qtconfig, sip4:- sip4, python-sip4, python-sip4-dev, python2.3-sip4 (virtual, dunno why this is still there, can't remove it though), python2.4-sip4 (virtual) then i searched for site-packages:- $ locate site-pack | grep pyqt /usr/lib/python2.3/site-packages/PyQt4/pyqtconfig.py /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/PyQt4/pyqtconfig.py /usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/PyQt4/pyqtconfig.pyc checked the sys.path variable in python >>> import sys >>> print sys.path ['', '/usr/lib/python24.zip', '/usr/lib/python2.4', '/usr/lib/python2.4/plat-linux2', '/usr/lib/python2.4/lib-tk', '/usr/lib/python2.4/lib-dynload', '/usr/local/lib/python2.4/site-packages', '/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages', '/var/lib/python-support/python2.4'] appended path obtained in locate (above) to sys.path >>> sys.path.append('/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/PyQt4') >>> print sys.path ['', '/usr/lib/python24.zip', '/usr/lib/python2.4', '/usr/lib/python2.4/plat-linux2', '/usr/lib/python2.4/lib-tk', '/usr/lib/python2.4/lib-dynload', '/usr/local/lib/python2.4/site-packages', '/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages', '/var/lib/python-support/python2.4', '/usr/lib/python2.4/site-packages/PyQt4'] but still i have the same problem >>> import qt Traceback (most recent call last): File "<stdin>", line 1, in ? Problem installing mysql on RHEL 4

I am trying to install MySQL-server-4.0.16-0 on RHEL 4 but am getting the error shown below. I also tried again downloading and installing but same problem. MySQL-client-4.0.16-0 is also installed. [root@test tmp]# rpm -ivh MySQL-server-4.0.16-0.i386.rpm warning: MySQL-server-4.0.16-0.i386.rpm: V3 DSA signature: NOKEY, key ID 5072e1f5 Preparing... ########################################### [100%] error: %pre(MySQL-server-4.0.16-0.i386) scriptlet failed, exit status 255 error: install: %pre scriptlet failed (2), skipping MySQL-server-4.0.16-0 Any suggestions will be helpful. Sify broadband connection on Linux RHES 4

Dear List, Do any of you use Sify Broadband Connection on Linux RHES 4?If anybody is using can you tell me how do u use it? I ve got the connection from local cable operator who has given me one .exe which when installed creates one icon on desktop and when opened that application need to mention username and password to connect to the internet. On windows i m able to use internet but i want to use on Linux.The local cable operator has denied any support on Linux.So anybody in the list can guide me plz for the same. -- Friends are like an treasure,so if you want to become rich in your life make as many friends as possible in the life. The only tragic part was that you HAD to run it as root AARG !!! A pity the authors never bothered studying SUID, SGID and the concept of running a service as a user with a /bin/false shell. They even created a very badly written init script ;-) On windows i m able to use internet You have my utmost sympathies :-) but i want to use on Linux.The local > cable operator has denied any support on Linux.So anybody in the list can > guide me plz for the same. When i had used Sify, they generally pointed me to go to a local page on their network where you could download their client for Win, GNU/Linux and even Mac OS X. Basic requirements being decent communication, excellent attitude and ability to work as a team. I would expect someone who fits the requirement to have atleast 4-5 years of experience in core monitoring.
