Hello All,
The November issue of PC world has an ISO of Ubuntu Studio in its DVD.
The DVD does not mount automatically in Ubuntu but in Debian4 it mounts
as a numerical user and group 401. It can be accessed as root. The
Ubuntu Studio iso is about 900 MB so a DVD will be required to burn it.
Ubuntu Studio is basically the Ubuntu 7.04, power packed with multimedia
applications. Installation is smooth but in between package
installation, it takes long pauses to do something in the background
(off the net) , so don't worry and let it go on. It will ask you for
max. screen resolution and I could get 1280 x 1024 on my p4 2.4 + 845
desktop. When playing any media, it will seek plugins so simply say yes
to let it search for them from the net and install automatically.
Overall it is a nice distro for home and multimedia users.
