problems in FC2 while chain loading Windows2kprof.

Hello ppl, I have managed to install FC2 on my machine with Win dows2kProfessional installed on it. So its a dual boot machine. The p= roblem is that, While selecting Windows from the Boot loader,the system han= gs while chain loading and does NOT load Windows, whereas I am able to load= FC2. can't login to root using gnome

Hi, i can't login using my root passwd to gnome.However if i use any other account and use su it works,so i suspect no problem with the password .......in short there is some hard disk activity for some time and then the session expires. is there a way bywhich i can check logs to find out why the session expired ? regards

Have you tried to anyway create a Java project in Eclipse. I had a similar problem with Eclipse 2.1.2 on Linux, but when I created a Java project, it automatically asked me if I wanted to change the perspective to Java even though I hadn't seen it before. It works without any problem. BTW, my setup is PCQLinux2004 (based on Fedora Core 1) and the default installation of Java and Eclipse 2.1.2. I'm sorry I don't remember my Java version right now. There is a accountActive field with values True, False, (non,remove value). Changing it to False debars access to account via webmail client (squirrelmail) also. To clarify, Present situation: Everyone has webmail access. Everyone has pop3 access. Desired Now this is what we want: Everyone has Webmail access. Hi, I have finally managed to download the FlashMob RC4 iso. I have played around with it a little bit and here are the results. Basic requirement is 200 MB of Free RAM after booting (Morphix-based). I ran a test on a PII 300MHz with 128MB RAM. I have PCQLinux2004 installed on this machine and it runs like a charm. I could boot Linux and run the software. It ran the small benchmark giving me 0.1 GFLOPS but it didn't run the big benchmark citing insufficient memory. Next I ran it on a PIV 1.8GHz 512MB RAM in standalone mode. It ran great, and the small benchmark gave me a result of 0.5 GFLOPS and the big benchmark gave me 1.04 GFLOPS. Third test was to run it on my Compaq Laptop PIV 2.3GHz 512MB RAM in standalone mode. For some reason the SpeedStep technology kicks in and runs the CPU only at 1.6GHz. This happens with Knoppix 3.3 also. I still haven't tried it out with Suse 9.1 LiveCD. Anyway, the benchmarks ran but gave me pathetic results of 0.2 GFLOPS and 0.4 GFLOPS. I have no idea why. I haven't tried to analyse it yet. Fourth test was to run the server on my Laptop and the PIV as a compute node. Both nodes were detected. In this case, I got an insufficient memory error (don't know for which node, but I suspect my laptop). The benchmark ran and gave me bad results again with the big benchmark just yielding 0.8 GFLOPS. In the fift test, I used another PIV 1.8GHz 512MB desktop as the server and similar configuration for the compute node. No errors this time and the benchmarks ran great giving me 0.5 GFLOPS and 1.8GFLOPS for the small and big benchmarks using 2 nodes. Do you think we can try this out on a larger scale now ? hi, I am trying to boot compressed linux from IDE Flash. I have compressed the root file system and made ram.img image which are in ext3 format then I mounted initrd.img on the ram and edited the linuxrc file linuxrc file #! /bin/sh mount -o ro /dev/hda1 /mnt zcat /mnt/boot/ram.img.gz > /dev/ram umount /dev/hda1 and made the initrd.img which then I compressed. While booting it is giving me error 19 mounting zcat /mnt/boot/ram.img.gz no such file ot directory ERROR /bin/zcat excited abnormally umount /dev/hda1 failed :22 ........... please can any body help me.

Domino server 6.5.1 on linux is slow !

Hey ppl, Jus wanted 2 ask if any1 has tried installing a lotus = domino server on linux ? Well, I have installed domino 6.5 on linux (RHL9.0 ) and even installed the incremental installer i.e. domino 6.5.1 But,= there seems to be problem. Since, domino has its own web+mail server, I ha= ve chosen that as my web server. NOw, the problem is that the access to it = is very slow. I am not pleased to say this, but I have another domino serve= r running on windows and that is faster than the one installed on linux. Both these servers are on the internal LAN and I have a Linux box acti= ng as a firewall and a natting box which is providing access to the externa= l networks. When I assign a public IP to my domino server on linux it works= fast, ditto is for internal LAN but when I choose the firewall linux machi ne to route to the domino-linux server the accessibility is very slow. Hey Guys, I got the MDK 10.0 community edition. Its much better than the previous mdk releases. The Kernel 2.6 comes as the default kernel and it ROCKS!!! Much better destop experience , more responsive to destop activities. MDK has done a neat job. The only sad part was that many pkges for devel required the CD 4 whin unfortunately is not the part of the Community edition. But these pkges are still available for download. So no probs. I downloaded bittorrent and searched for and found a page for the bittorrent of Knoppix (http://torrent.unix-ag.uni-kl.de:6969/) How do I now go about starting the download ? CRUX 2 and Cablenet problems !!!

hi, i have installed crux linux 2.0 on my machine. network card and everything is working properly. but i cant connect to net to install and upgrade packages (gnome, kde, xfce...) i am logged in as root server ip address : 172.16.250.250 connected thrugh lan and they use cyberoam client (shitty and real pain) to connect user to internet. when i ping server 172.16.250.250 i get reply from server i use wget 172.16.250.250 and it downloads the server webpage properly. i have installed the linux software which i downloaded from windows machine from their server website in download client section. its called crclient. and it has a readme file which i read a few times. i set the configuration file and log into the server. i get message "crclient:user 'xxx' successfully logged in to server 172.16.250.250" so i can connect to their server properly. now i try to access interent and it doesnt work. wget www.yahoo.com Connecting to www.yahoo.com[66.94.230.46]:80...Failed. Network is unreachable I dont understand :( i flushed all firewall rules using iptables -F since CRUX is light weight distribution. there are only 3 network releated files in their readme. /etc/resolv.conf /etc/rc.d/net /etc/hosts i searched internet and other distributions have different configurations files like /etc/sysconfig/network - but in CRUX 2 their is no directory called /etc/sysconfig i have setup the files as per needed CRUX 2 is using kernel 2.6.6 with x.org server i then see the routing tables. #route Dest Gateway Genmask Flags 172.16.0.0 * 55.255.0.0 U Met Ref use Iface 0 0 0 eth0 what is the problem can anyone of linux pro in mumbai guide me ??? byee. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? problem with NFS

Hi, I have 2 computers connected with Ethernet LAN(cross cabled) and both running Fedora Core 1. I m running nfs server on one of them. My problem is that whenever i copy a big file (about >10MB) the speed of copying reduces drastically and sometimes it even stalls . However when i copy the file using http/ftp then there is no problem. I have tried using following options while mounting in nfs rsize=8192,wsize=8192,no_wdelay etc.... I have also tried using tcp option but it did not help. Please help, CHIRAG.

Hi, Thanks for the quick replies.Have managed to get the connection up.I installed Fedora Core 2 & setup the Pacenet account using 'redhat-config-network'.The only thing different I did was choose to do synchonous ppp as an option.What can I say? It worked!! Shows that you gotta try everything before you go asking for help.I feel so stupid. Thanks for your help. Pacenet connection problems.

Hi, I've been a Pacenet user for more than a year and had given up trying to connect through 'rp-pppoe'.However, after the discussion that took place on this list a few days ago, I decided to try again. Using <username@linuxuser>, I can connect & the connection shows up as ppp0 in 'ifconfig -a'.However, I cannot ping any IP addresses and connect to any web-sites outside the local net.Same problem in Slack 9 as well as FC1. In WinXP, I setup a dial-up connection that uses <username@linuxuser> as the username.Using this, I can successfully connect without the Pacenet dialer. Any suggestions as to what I should try? Hi Linuxers; I am new in Linux community, I want little help regarding Apache and tomcat configuration. I read "JhonTurner HOWTO and many other HOWTO " and configured apache on linux 9.0 in my company, Now i can able to run my (jsp) pages in "/usr/local/tomcat/weapps" but when i try to run my (jsp) pages in "/home/$user/www/*.jsp" it doesn't work, Please tell me why it is not working in /home.... ? . Cant we make sub groups? Like Nasik, kottayam etc. could be a sub group of this LUG, and the sub group members could recieve mails posted on in mumbai LUG, and the Sub groups can also post the same on our LUG. I think if the moderators of the respective smaller groups could add linuxers(a)mm.ilug-bom.org.in and Mumbai_GNULinux(a)yahoogroups.com on their regular mailing List. Would this work?? worth trying. Help required

Hi all, I am silent user of the group. I am facing a problem for deleteing mails which are queued by sendmail function. I stopped the sendmail service. I tried rm * but I am getting message segmentation fault. The mails are in queue are around more than 100000. Can Anybody help me in this for deleting the mails. regds, Anand

Problems installing FC2

Hello linuxers, I have successfully downloaded the 4 iso= images for Fedora Core 2 from one of the mirror sites and burnt them onto = CD's. Also I have run a 'mediacheck' on all of em as well as 'md5sum'. Both= are A OK ! But, when I began installing FC2, upon installing = from the 2nd CD, my system suddenly breaks away from installation and gives= me the "grub>" prompt. Recovering a failed multisession CD

Hi all, I burnt some data on a CD in four different sessions, the last of which failed on me. The CD is now a coaster and I can't recover the data from even the first three sessions which were successful. I tried a few Windoze software (BadCopy, IsoBuster, CDRoller) in vain. Morphix doesnt load

Hello, I am facing some problem while loading Morphix. It does not go beyond the boot prompt and gets stuck at showing: loading... This has happened after I added a 64MB module to the existing 64MB RAM, making it 128. Strangely, it loads just fine (ofcourse its slow) with either of the 64MB modules alone. Also, Windows 98 and Redhat have no issues working with the combined 128MB. Ran memtest from the Morphix CD but it showed no error (ran it till Pass 40). Tool to check mailflow.

Hi, I want to know if there are any tools or scripts to check mail flow between two servers. What we do now is : to check the mail flow between abc.com - xyz.com , we send a mail to an invalid account at abc.com from xyz.com every 15 minutes. If the mail bounces back correctly, the flow is okay. The problem here is, a person need to check every fifteen minutes if the bounced mail as arrived. Is there any way to automate the above process? getting graphical login in debian

I have installed debian testing/unstable using the netinst cd image to boot into a minimal debian system and then have downloaded and installed X and KDE. The problem is that I am unable to get a graphical login screen. The bootup messages say that kdm has been started but but I still get the text login prompt. On shutdown kdm is shown as not being shut down as it is not running. I can manually run kdm by /etc/init.d/kdm start. I have removed xdm and installed kdm. I did a dpkg-reconfigure kdm. To no avail. Kdm is set as default display manager in /etc/X11/deault-display-manager. I have the initdefault set to 2 in /etc/inittab. Changing this to 3 or 5 does not help. Currently running RH9 and kernel-2.4 I downloaded kerne= l-2.6 source and installed it. Hello luggers, What happen to the lonavla trip & flash mob party.Isnt the flash mob party organised. I had 1 question,how do i stop cron daemon to send reports to the users.I mean i use fetchmail to retrive mail for around 25 users from all the mail servers and run a cron job for every users to periodically poll the messages from the server's. The command i use is "fetchmail -v -f /home/username/.fetchmailrc" The problem is that after every poll the cron daemon sends a mail to the respective users about the poll status.Every users gets a hell lot of messages from Cron Daemon everyday.Is there any way that i can control cron daemon to send the mails to an admin account or stop sending the reports at all.
